Golang Job: Director of Modelling, Quants and Data Science

The Director of Modelling, Quants and Data Science is a leader in this field, with expert domain knowledge, and the vision to execute the future of quantitative modelling and analysis in sports betting, using the very latest quantitative approaches and technology.

Armoured with in-depth industry experience the Director of Modelling, Quants and Data Science will be responsible to build, manage and mentor a team to ensure that OpenBet can scale their solutions across multiple sports and competitions using the optimal levels of automation across departments – ultimately resulting in the successful delivery of our products across the entire group.

Efficient Data Science utilisation is crucial to our success as a business and you will be responsible for leading, designing and developing implementing an industry leading data and ML strategy for OpenBet that helps improve our products and business decisions by making the most out of data.

Critical within the role will be overseeing the continued success of OpenBet’s blend of game changing automation approaches mixed with human intervention, a combination which today delivers industry redefining margins whilst maintaining groundbreakingly low trading team head counts.

Reporting into the VP Betting Content the Director of Modelling, Quants and Data Science will be able to clearly communicate the challenges and opportunities to both the product team and wider OpenBet leadership team.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Own the ML/AI strategy across the organization for Sports Modelling
• Ensure delivery of our products accurately and efficiently
• Develop mathematical and statistical models, leveraging data science and quantitative analysis, for a wide range of Sports, which will price the core and premium derivative markets.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of our Modelling, Trading Solutions and Data Science teams across multiple time zones
• Provide performance analysis through testing and optimizing model outputs
• Own and define the roadmap of data collection and analysis to aid market modeling and model development
• Work closely with data providers to maximize benefit
• Maintain and enhance models for existing sports through analysis and adaptation
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define priorities of the Modelling roadmap
• Build/maintain and enhance automated trading tooling, to enable our trading teams to deliver upon margin targets and build trading efficiencies
• Ensure improved understanding of modelling/pricing/quants across the business via regular reports, presentations, and other communication with key stakeholders.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure proper and seamless integration of deliverables

Primary Requisites:

• 5+ years experience in managing and developing teams that have been proven to add value at every level
• Proven record in delivering cutting edge quants models to the industry, preferably both core and non-core markets
• Undergraduate degree or beyond in a mathematical or statistical discipline
• Expertise in R and/or Python and other statistical programming/machine learning languages/techniques
• Knowledge of C#, MySQL and/or Golang would be a plus
• Strong knowledge of Sports Betting and Trading
• Passionate about automation and efficiencies
• Experience with managing large data sets and data feeds
• Be a passionate advocate for the responsible use of AI and ML
• Industry expert, who understands all elements of the business and wider commercial considerations in making product decisions
• A team player who can work with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography to achieve shared goals
• Excellent time management and communication skills
